5th BPIEF to showcase more than 70 exhibitors

KUCHING, Mar 5, 2014: More than 70 exhibitors will participate in the Borneo Post International Education Fair (BPIEF) to take place at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on March 22 and 23.

This year marks the fifth edition of BPIEF showcasing foreign and local institutions of higher learning.

Educational talks and forum as well as side activities such as the BPIEF Bicycle Race 2014 and UCSI University’s Next Big Chef cooking competition will also be held in conjunction with the two-day fair.

The bicycle race is a joint initiative with Nestle Products Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

Apart from that, there will be an hourly lucky draw during the fair from 10am to 6pm.

BPIEF chairman Dorge Rajah said the education fair is an appreciation from The Borneo Post for its readers while complementing the government’s efforts to promote education.

“BPIEF will be organised for the fifth year to give back to our readers who have been supporting the newspaper. The fair is for both school children and working adults, who need to certify their skills,” he told a press conference in the presence of Minister of Welfare, Women and Family Development Datuk Fatimah Abdullah at the latter’s office at Bangunan Baitulmakmur in Petra Jaya here yesterday.

Dorge, also head of The Borneo Post Online, added that the education fair provides a golden opportunity for students to meet up with representatives of various institutions of higher learning.

As of yesterday, he said 116 booths had been taken up and more would be set up come March 22 and 23.

To a question, he said 8,000 people from all walks of life are expected to come to the event, adding: “We would like to see over 10,000 visitors.”

Participants of BPIEF include Education New Zealand, Yayasan Sarawak, Swinburne University of Technology, UCSI University Sarawak Campus, MyCenthe, JMECC Education Counselling Centre, Kolej Sunway, Australian Business Centre, ACCA, Executive College, FAME International College, NIIT College, Kolej Yayasan UEM, Education USA-MACEE, Curtin University Sarawak Campus, NUMED Malaysia, MMS Education Placement Group, Singapore Institute of Management, Allianze University College of Medical Sciences, Segi College Sarawak and AUG Student Services.

Visitors can be assured of finding information from early childhood education to tertiary education, vocational training, skills certification, adult learning, cookery, hobby classes, just to name a few.

BPIEF will also offer services from education industry service providers such as education fund planners, scholarships and loan providers as well as financial institutions.
