KOTA KINABALU, Feb 27, 2014: Sabah’s success in clinching 11 awards in 46 categories at the 18th Malaysian Tourism Awards at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre recently, showed that the state’s tourism sector was on the right track.

Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said the awards were an acknowledgement of the improvement in quality of the state’s tourism services and products.

“Of the 11 wins, seven are main awards and four are jury awards. The wins were focused on services and nature based ecotourism,” he told a press conference after presenting certificates of recognition to the winners here today.

Masidi hoped the achievements would inspire other tour operators to strive at enhancing their services and products.

The main award winners were Luxury Borneo Nature Tours, All Borneo Connection Tours Sdn Bhd, Danum Valley, Mari-Mari Cultural Village, Borneo Rainforest, Naan and Coast, and Shangri-la’s Rasa Ria Resort while the jury award winners were Hotel Magellan, Sutera Harbour Resort, Shangri-la’s Rasa Ria Resort, Spice Island, Sutera Harbour Resort and National Park.
