Kota Kinabalu: Eight bloggers representing Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei and Kalimantan are now in the running to win the title of the Top Borneo Blogger and walk away with RM10,000. Will it be a Bruneian, Indonesian or a Malaysian?
The Borneo Bloggers Award contest by BorneoColours.com, which ran since early this year, generated huge online interest as 43 blogs that were eligible for nomination campaigned for votes. The voting period ended on 21 June 2010 and bore a surprising pool of finalists that represents every region in Borneo.
The contest is planned to be an annual event and aims to give new and seasoned bloggers in Borneo opportunities to shine as well as encouraging them to be more competitive in content, style and originality.
BorneoColours.com hopes the contest can unite Borneo bloggers under one community portal, not only so they can get to know one another, but also to encourage bloggers to act as web ambassadors of their homeland, culture and lifestyle.
The finalists are currently on assignment writing articles to promote their local places of interest, history, culture and lifestyle.
The winner will be determined by BorneoColours.com along with guest judges, and will be announced at the Borneo Bloggers Awards Night in Kota Kinabalu on 16th October 2010.
Coinciding with the event, BorneoColours.com is also organising another event called B2.0: Borneo Bloggers & New Media Dialogue, a gathering of bloggers and new media practitioners that will be the first of its kind in Borneo.
It will feature presentations by representatives of Borneo’s regional blogospheres as well as local and international experts on new media, web marketing, web monetisation, social media technologies and more.
B2.0 hopes to be an exciting event that will facilitate learning, networking and growth for its target audience.
Borneocolours.com is a community portal focused on promoting and showcasing the colours of Borneo to the world. It sports Facebook-like social networking features integrated with content sharing capability, designed to encourage members to accumulate points and be rewarded.
