Kota Kinabalu: The Year of the Tiger will be ushered in quite literally this year as Lok Kawi Wildlife Park celebrates the Chinese New Year by putting the spotlight on all things feline.
Dubbed "Tigers Rock!", a two-day event will be held at the Park starting on Feb 14. Normal admission applies but visitors will be treated to a lot more activities, exclusively for the festive period.
Cat lovers can expect to meet the Park's tiger siblings, Labi and Dona, who will display natural hunting behaviour in a special tiger feeding presentation as well as learn about cats through informative Cats of Borneo exhibition by the Sabah Wildlife Department.
In running with the cat theme, the Park will also welcome two new African Servals to its family, which can be viewed by visitors at the brand new Serval Exhibit after its launch the same day.
Meanwhile, there will also be free elephant rides for three hours each day at the Park.
"This would be a good opportunity to experience Lok Kawi Wildlife Park in a very extravagant and colourful display of activities, especially since we are ushering in the Year of the Tiger for this Chinese New Year celebration," said Wildlife Director Dr Laurentius Ambu.
Also, there will be new animal stars at the new and improved Wild Borneo Animal Show, including Suria, a giant albino python that will make its first public appearance during the Park's special animal photography sessions.
A musical event would also be held in the Park with the Tigers Rock! Concert, which is open to all visitors after operating hours on Feb 14.
