What is BorneoColours.com all about?
Borneocolours.com is best defined as “Intelligent New Media” – a web portal that is comprehensive and user-friendly, designed intelligently with integrated social media function to aggregate and engage users to trade, search, share, store and communicate information.

Who is behind BorneoColours.com and where is it based?
The company is managed and facilitated by a young team of diverse cultural backgrounds, talented and creative individuals who come from various places in Borneo.

The operation and management are based at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia with independent supporting teams stationed at Labuan F.T (Malaysia), Bandar Seri Begawan (Brunei), Kuching (Malaysia) and Pontianak (Kalimantan, Indonesia).

As an information-rich portal, BorneoColours.com aspires to become one of the dynamic voices promoting the many colours of Borneo Island.

What do you mean by colours of Borneo?
The community in Borneo loves to share, this may be the reason why were consider one of the most peaceful island on the planet. The portal promote and shares information, it is basically a Knowledge Portal about almost anything relate to Borneo Island; The People, Cultures, Business & Services, Art & Craft, Travel Guide, Creative Content, Photos and Videos, Events, News and Gossips, Tourism Related Destinations, Talents of Local Artists, and even a Marketplace listing second-hand items for sale.

There is so much information out there in the internet about Borneo Island that it can be difficult to identify what is correct and up-to-date.

Borneocolours.com aims to build a community that shares up-to-date content about anything related to Borneo so that you can easily find information about it in a focused and structured manner. Our main agenda is positioning Borneo as a Brand Destination on the web; ultimately it showcases members, partners and their services within the portal.

What is and why are we in beta stage?
Though the site is up and running, but we are not yet 100% complete, this is why we are still in beta.
We believe in giving the local IT community an opportunity to cultivate their skills. This means there will be quite a lot of trial and error while developing the portal. However we strive to improve our portal system as fast possible so we could provide you with the best user experience. You might encounter difficulties while browsing the site for information or logging in as a member. We’re working on it. In the meantime, send us feedback on whatever you believe needs fixing; we appreciate it.

Why must I sign in as a community?
Our community are called BCBUDDY. Its stands for “BorneoColours Buddy”, by signing in as members you are officially a friend of the Borneo Island and its people.

What are articles, reviews and comments?
Articles are the main content that you can add on the various sections on BorneoColours.com. Once you’ve posted an article, other users can respond with reviews or comments, depending on the section the article is posted. Reviews are special comments that also allow a user to rate your article.

How to add an article?
You will find an (+ Add New Content) link on your top left side of the portal. This will only appear after you have logged in as a member. From there onwards you can then select which category, section and subsection to share your content.

Travel Guide
This is an easy and convenient communication platform for traveller, tourism operators or anyone interested in sharing or gathering information about places of interest, accommodation or dining experiences all over Borneo.
Add your personal stories about particular tourist attractions, hotels, restaurants, and so on. Other users can then review your content and share their opinions on them as well. BorneoColours.com ensures that we’ll get answers for any review or comments required justification.

Education, Jobs & Career
This section is where users can share education, job and career information. Training Offers, Research in Borneo, Support Tools and Vacancies are its categories subsection.
You can share or browse though training and job opportunities information. You too may share or search research abstract conducted in Borneo. The Support Tools are subsection to share helpful tips and knowledge about Education, Jobs and Career related material.

Community Buzz
This section is where worthwhile stories or events are shared for all. NEWS, BCBUZZ and EVENTS are its categories subsection.

You can now post or comment Interesting stories from legitimate sources in the NEWS subsection. Share and discuss on any gossips, recent events and any other stories worth buzzing about in BCBUZZ. Share an event that you wish others to attend on EVENTS Subsection.

BorneoColours.com support the need to create a business platform that is dynamic and vibrant for everyone and to create entrepreneurial spirit among its community. We welcome you to participate and display 2nd hand product for sale on the our subsection call Traders Market. You too could showcase your business and services on a micro site within our portal at our Borneo Business Directory.

BorneoColours.com walk the talk when it comes to Corporate Social Responsibility, thus creating a mechanism call the Give It Back Project in support of sustainable financing for the community. Our platform for this project is call the Give It Back Store.

To have more fun and use the most of BCBUDDY, there are several tools on applications for are free add-ons. For example if you have a Twitter account and wish to integrate your twitter account with BCBUDDY, you could do so as follows; On your BCBUDDY homepage >> Applications >> Browse then select >>My Twitter Updates

How do I use My Twitter Updates?
If you have a Twitter account, you can add the My Twitter Updates application to connect it to your BorneoColours.com account. To configure this application, go to Applications > My Applications, click on Settings next to My Twitter Updates, and enter your Twitter account details. If you choose “Yes” for the Update Twitter option, you can actually start tweeting by updating your BorneoColours.com status.

What and where is my Wall?
A Wall is an application that allows anyone to post messages directly on your profile page for public viewing. Your Wall posts can each be commented on by anyone as well, and you can also delete the Wall. You can find and add this application by going to Applications > Browse.

What are karma points?
Every time you add content, join a group, update your status and so on, you’ll receive karma points. Your accumulated karma points basically show how much of an active member you are and how much content you’ve shared on BorneoColours.com.

Sign in today and start accumulating your karma point by sharing and be active on the portal. We will soon update you on the reward for collecting this points.
