We wish to thank you for your kind attention and support toward BBA2011. In recent weeks, Team BorneoColours were fortunate to be engaged on several major local and foreign branding, creative and online engagement project / initiative. Due to this recent development, Team BorneoColours role and focus are required to be aligned accordingly to ensure that these exciting project/initiative is implemented successfully thus regretfully announce that BBA2011 are cancelled and be brought forward to 2012.

We however, will be committed in organizing B2.0 Bloggers and New Media Dialogue. This year B2.0 event will be held tentatively mid October in Brunei Darussalam.

To those who have been approved as a contestant for this year BBA2011, we wish to apologize for the inconvenience and inform you that same opportunity is automatically yours next year. Be Eligible!
The closing date is getting near, for those who had submitted their entry; you must complete all requirements to be fully eligible. Getting 600 Karma Points is not that hard, read up this article for tips. For those who are interested, you can submit your entry even if your Karma Points accumulated is not enough, just make sure that all other requirements are fulfilled and you can work up to collect the points before the closing date, which falls on 10 April 2011.

Consider this as the prelude challenge to enter this contest, as there will be something rewarding in store for eligible participants this year. We will announce about the reward later on.

Voting
Some of you may have a little bit of confusion about when the voting time actually starts. The voting will only begin after the qualification round has ended. Members can start voting to choose their favourite participants to be in the Top 8 Finalist. There will be one month period for members to vote. This is where participants rally to gain votes to be in the Top 8, a second prelude challenge before going into the main course. After the Top 8 Finalist has been decided, the true challenge begins. Who will survive? And who will be eliminated? The choice is in the voter’s hand.

Question still remains, who will grab the title “Top Borneo Blogger” this year? Why don’t you give it a shot? Special consolation prize will be given to eligible participants too. This year grand prize is an all expense paid trip around Borneo Island as a BorneoColours.com Travel Blogger.

Article Sharing tips

The month of March has come and BorneoColours.com continues to grow as BC Buddies share contents from Borneo Island and around the world.

As I’m writing this article; the qualification round for the Borneo Bloggers Award is still running and will be closing on 10th APRIL 2011. Some of you would just happen to found about this contest and just registered as a member, or taking time to rake up those Karma Points for this year entry requirements. For those who are waiting, what are you waiting for? This is your chance to shine, Don’t hesitate longer!

Some of you may think that the Karma Points is hard to accumulate in time, but let me tell you a story;  Last year, one of the participants goes to an extent that he accumulated 250 Karma Points in just one day! Can you imagine that? His reason was simple, he got nothing to do that day, so he kept sharing articles until he acquire 250 Karma Points.

While this year Karma Points requirements shoot up to 600, acquiring that is not really impossible.  Each article shared is worth 6 Karma Points, let’s just say that you share about 10 articles to BorneoColours.com in one day, you get 60 Karma Points. Now, keep on sharing the same number of articles for at least 10 days, and you will earn 600 Karma Points!
So in summary:

(6 Karma Points x 10 Articles) x 10 Days = 600 Karma Points

I’m not telling you to do exactly as I mentioned above, I’m just giving you the idea that acquiring he Karma Points is not that super hard. There is no limitation on how many articles you can share per day, you can go on and post up to 100 articles in one day; no one will get mad at you and you will enjoy accumulating those Karma Points. Looking for article sources is actually very easy. Let me share with you how to get great articles to be shared in BorneoColours.com.

You can view the latest news source directly from the local newspaper online portal like The Borneo Post,  Daily Express, New Sabah Times, The Brunei Times, BruDirect and The Jakarta Post( Kalimantan related news). Alternatively you can find the latest local news by searching through www.news.google.com or www.interceder.net ; click the search bar for news in your region. For example, if you want to share news from Sarawak; type in the search bar “Sarawak” and click search. You will find much news related to your search and arranged by date.  You are not limited to find news sources within Borneo Island only, some international news that is interesting can also be shared too. Borneo-relevant and international news reports can be shared in The Buzz > News category.

Aside from local news, you can also share entertainment news, opinions, and gossips or maybe an interesting topic from a blog post; these kinds of articles are lighter than the actual news report but are still fun to read. Online sources like DailyChilli, E! Online or MSN Entertainment is one of many websites to find entertainment related articles. You can share these articles on The Buzz > BZeebodie category.

If you enjoy sharing ‘How to’ and informational articles, then Edutainment > Support Tools is where the article can be shared. You can get a good article source from websites like Yahoo Health, and eHow. Share the articles based on the categories listed such as Beauty & personal Grooming, Communication & Culture, Handicraft & DIY and many more.  Other categories under Edutainment are Jobs in Borneo (Job opportunities), Training in Borneo (Job & Skill Training opportunity), and Research in Borneo (articles about scientific research made in Borneo). See which categories fit for the articles or information you want to share in Edutainment.

Some members (BC Buddy) that are bloggers love to share their travel and dining experiences sourced from their own blog post. A section called Travel Guide is the best place to share it, there are 3 main categories that are Eat (restaurants, local or special delicacies), Rest (lodge, hotels & home stay) and Discover (beautiful travel locations, landmarks, entertainment venue). You can also look for other source on the internet for articles related to the mentioned categories.
While you get most points while sharing articles, you will also get extra points by socializing in BorneoColours.  Send your friend a message, give them a wall buzz, and comment on their shared pictures or videos. You can also share your opinions on articles shared by yourself or your friends; enjoy the exchange of ideas and opinions.

Getting Karma Points

One of the requirements to qualify for this year Borneo Bloggers Award is to accumulate 600 Karma Points.  Some of you especially the new members don’t know how it really works.

So what is Karma Points actually?

Every time you add content, join a group; update your status and just being active in the portal, you’ll receive Karma Points. You can see how much Karma Points you have accumulated by clicking BC Buddy tab after you have logged in. From the tab, click Profile and you will see your Karma Points beside your profile picture.

Your accumulated Karma Points basically show how much of an active member you are and how much content you’ve shared on BorneoColours.com.

Can I accumulate enough karma Points before the contest entry closing date?

The answer is YES!

Let me give you a tip; if you see in the table, posting an article will give you 6 Karma Points.

If you post at least 10 articles (whether it is News, Bzeebodie, Support Tools, Travel Guide etc.) each day, you easily get 60 Karma Points. Those alone not include points when you do other activities on BorneoColours.com, so keep going and post new content every day until you accumulated enough Karma Points to complete your qualification.

Where can I get NEWS, BZEEBODIE, SUPPORT TOOLS articles to share on BorneoColours?

There are many sources for you to get article, Yahoo News, Google News or even your local online news portal. We encourage you to share articles related to Borneo, so we can hear what the latest happening around the island is.

There is still enough time before closing date, so don’t waste your time, complete the requirements and qualify for this year Borneo Bloggers Awards!

How to add your blog in Borneo Bloggers Directory

Before that, you do have to log in to borneocolours.com :D

1. First, click “Add New Content” on your profile’s Control Panel just at the left side, the one with your avatar and all.

2. You will then redirected to the Add New Content page, You will see some Add New Content tips there.

Click on “Select Section” menu to choose “BC Community”

3. Next, click on “Select Category” menu, which is just right next to “Select Section”, and choose “Borneo Bloggers Directory”.

4. Now you can start off filling your blog information below,

You can choose more than one blog categories by holding the CTRL key on your keyboard, and select your preferred category.

5. After that, you can fill up your blog some description, you can also take advantage of the HTML function to format your info. Put some pictures, videos or anything, you decide!

6. Please do upload at least one picture, may it be your blog logo or a blog-site screenshot; or blog list thumbnail purposes. Situated just below the “Description” section. Maximum picture size must not exceed 2Mb. Click browse button and choose your desired picture.

7. After finalizing the basics and the itty bitty details for your blog, click the “Submit” button and you will be instantly listed to Borneo Bloggers Directory.

KOTA KINABALU: The Borneo Bloggers Award was a successful contest held last year by BorneoColours.com, crowning Muhammad Irhamna (artiirhamna.blogspot.com) from Kalimantan as the Top Borneo Blogger for 2010. He had gained so much publicity that skyrocket his popularity not only his blog and his fan page on Facebook; but also with the blogging community in Indonesia.

Borneo Bloggers Award is back again this year, with a new twist of reality game show crafted creatively in BorneoColours style. It is made to encourage participants to stand out more than just writing an article and gaining votes. The competition will be divided into a 5 series for challenges that includes performing and presenting themselves in a creative way through video presentation. Voting is done simultaneously on both borneocolours.com community portal and borneocolours.com fan page on Facebook. On every end of the challenges, the vote will determine which of the finalist to survive and advance to the next challenge; or eliminated and stop their pursuit to be the ultimate winner.

The contest is open to all BC Buddy who have registered their blog in Borneo Bloggers Directory and must acquired at least 600 Karma Points, a part of the rules for contestant to be eligible. The 2010 Top 8 Finalist including the winner could also join back the contest again. This year Top 3 Borneo Blogger will walk away with several exciting prizes and an opportunity to be a Travel Blogger for BorneoColours.com. A special prize will be also being given to 3 lucky voters randomly selected by borneocolours.com.

Surely the Top Borneo Blogger will gain fame and fortune, but the most important thing is that the contest encourages bloggers to give out their best. Not only they are promoting themselves through their blog, but also promoting their culture and lifestyle as a Bornean to the whole world.
